Slump

Buddha
The green little corner of my yard.

I’m still slumpish.

Even when the heat and humidity let up for a few days I still found myself with no motivation.

As Steven says “my get up and go must have got up and went”.

Here’s what I’ve been spending lots of time doing.

• Reading magazines. Trying to get through a huge stack, clipping out what I love and passing the magazine on. I don't need the clutter.

• Bookmarking lots of recipes and saying “oh I need to make this”.

• Cutting mats out of Moose’s ears.

• Pulling my hair up.

• Trying to follow all the blogs I read. I can’t say that I’ve been keeping up with all of them, but I’m trying.

• Eating popsicles (the cotton candy flavored ones are my faves).

• Plotting out my Christmas craft for this year and buying supplies (don’t hate me cause I’m an early planner).

• Adjusting to the new meds, one perk to one of them…makes my skin super healthy and clear. One not so great perk, monthly blood work to make sure my potassium levels aren’t going up too much.

• Eating lots of cold suppers. I’m getting very creative with salad.

• Picking veggies from my garden. My basil has come back with a vengeance. It’s like 4 feet high and that’s with regular trimmings.

I had hoped to make a few recipes over the weekend but I had a wedding to attend in Connecticut on Saturday and a house to clean on Sunday. Oh yeah, I didn't feel like cleaning much during the heatwave either.

Shall I taunt you with all the delicious foods I will be posting shortly?? Ok then. Here's whats coming up....

Sicilian Steak
Lime in the Coconut Cheesecake bars
Crab Rangoon Eggrolls
Lasagna Cups
Mini Pizza Cups
My delicious herbed mayo
Pizza Black Bean Burgers from my friend Rebecca.
Blueberry Vanilla Cream Cheese Pies
Frozen Strawberry Squares
Pasta e Fagioli Soup

So that's what I have planned and of course that list is subject to change based on whatever other recipe I find that might entices me more, but most of the above mentioned should be appearing shortly. Honest...I will get back in the kitchen!

  1. Can't wait to try some of these. The Lime in the Coconut bars sound wonderful. Missing your recipe posts, but I understand how summers can steal your mojo - completely.

I have been feasting on mixed boxes of creamsicles.
Who , what, when, & where. I need details. Who makes these cotton candy popsicles?

  3. I know where you're coming from - after six months of winter, I crave the warmth, then either it gets so hot that it drains me, or it's just so darn nice out, all I want to do is sit on the porch :) It's a tough balance, with everything that needs to be done while things aren't frozen, and also just enjoying some decent weather.

  6. I'm feeling the same way...in a slump...i blame it totally on the heat...i'm getting out of my slump by making myself train (early) for a 1/2 marathon...exercise makes you feel good, doesn't it?
btw, i thought i was the only one printing a million recipes and uh, not making them!
I think August will pass us right by (the way July did) and then we'll be back to better weather.
    Take Care.

  7. Ooooooooooh, crab rangoons. The first time I experienced them, at a restaurant, I flipped for them. I don't want to know the fat grams. I don't care. They are so good!
I hear it's hot over there. I'm so sorry. So, um, cotton candy popsicles? Really? Did you make them? Care to share?
