Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Brownie Babies & a Giveaway

Peanut Butter Brownie Babies

We are a family that is all about composting. We have a big composter in the back yard, and even though my soil is frozen solid, we still save our scraps and I throw them on the pile or in one of the frozen raised beds.

Now you're probably wondering why I'm writing about composting when I have a post titled Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Brownie Babies huh?

Well the nice folks at Hefty sent me some Hefty Basics compostable dinnerware and some coupons for me to give away to 3 lucky blog followers. I know it seems silly to get excited about paper plates but I'm so happy to know that big companies like Hefty really care about the environment and designed a plate that I can rinse and thrown into the compost pile.

These plates are stronger than everyday plates. They are biodegradable and are free of inks, dyes and coatings. I think that's kinda cool, and if I'm going to buy disposable plates, I don't want them sitting in a landfill for 10 years. Hefty has also partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation on a quest to plant 10,000 trees for every 10 new likes on Facebook. They also sent me a cool cover letter printed on recycled paper embedded with wildflower seeds that I can plant whenever I can see the grass again!

So if you'd like to win a coupon for a free package of Hefty Basics Paper Plates, leave me a comment answering this question....

Do you compost?

If you're a follower, let me know, I'll give ya 2 chances to win instead of 1. Not a follower....well come on and join and you'll get 2 chances too.

I'll choose the 3 winners on Tuesday, February 15th by midnight EST.

I received this product to review and share. The 3 winning coupons were provided by Hefty.

Now on to the brownie babies!

Brownie Babies photographed on a Hefty basics plate no less. Huh, wonder how that happened???

I made these brownie bites for the Super Bowl. I thought they would be easy to just pick up and off you go.

I often make brownies in cupcake pans cause they are super transportable for the kids and cause, well they just look damn cute, the peanut butter filling doesn't hurt too much either.

You can top these anyway you like. I used whipped cream and cherries but feel free to put whatever you like on top.

  2. Those brownies look AWESOME.

I follow, but haven't compost since moving out on my own. It would require having space to do it.

Also, I'll pop this on my blog sidebar, Lee. :)

  3. we compost by throwing it all out in a pile in the backyard, i keep saying one day i'll get it organized and fruitful.

although we do empty the rabbit tray onto the bed where the garden lies, as she is a vegetarian, she does wonders for the garden.

those brownies baby, you are KILLING me.

  5. I wish we could, but we don't have a garden, let alone a house. I believe in composting -- everytime I throw out a banana peel or apple core, all I can think about is what a treasure it is, LOL!

  7. We have a composting pile in the backyard. In the spring, we use the soil to re-pot plants. I read your blog everyday. I especially love your photography on Wordless Wednesday.

  8. Girl, you know I'm a follwer, from way back ;-) We compost too! Although I have to admit, it's been a little difficult keeping our pile going in the cold, even the Florida "Cold". We just moved things around though and are composting our little hearts out!

  10. I am a follower and I compost. My compost make a wonderful veggie garden last year. I cannot wait to use it again. It's amazing that my compost bin is covered by 2-3 feet of snow but yet it's nice and warm in the bin!

  11. I am a follower, and I do not compost because it is not allowed in my appartment building, but I am a big believer in composting and have convinced my mother-in-law and my aunt to start composting!

  12. I don't compost. Will you still be my friend? So, I'm eliminated from the giveaway...I really just came over to get a closer look at those heavenly brownies. And torture myself. With Haley's peanut allergy, I no longer keep peanut butter in the house. Those look so good *shuffles off to sit in corner and sulk...

  13. Hi, I stumbled upon your blog. I like what I've seen so far and will become a follower. The brownies look wonderful. I have composted for my whole life. I leaned from my grandparents who had a big compost pile in the back of our 3/4 acre lot - which is now my homestead. I save all egg shells, coffee grounds, peels and other kitchen scraps. They go into a Maxwell House 33 oz, blue plastic container I keep near the sink. I need to empty it today - the temp here is -14F. BRRR! I may NEED to make those brownies just to keep the house warm.

  16. This is a great idea- I found you from my friend Alicia Gregoire's blog.

I LOVE composting (though right now our compost pile is a little icy). I am looking forward to spring when I can start spreading it all over the yard.

I had no idea compostable plates were available now.

  18. Lisa - these were a BIG hit! I made them last night for our V-day treat, without any frosting like I thought I would, and we all loved them! Definitely going to be the treat of choice when we go out now!
