Phew! I’m slowing catching up on all my blog reading this week. There are days that go by that are so filled with the “everyday” stuff that I just can’t find the time to sit and read (and sometimes drool) over all the fantastic blogs on my list.
If you peeked into my reader, you’d find blogs about decorating, crafting, entertaining, gardening, photography and of course lots and lots of food blogs.
Sandy’s blog The Reluctant Entertainer is a little of all the things I love about a blog rolled up into one. She’s a busy Mom of 3 teenagers (I can relate to that) who maintains a garden, entertains on a budget, makes delicious meals for her family and friends, teaches the power of gracious hospitality and shows you that entertaining doesn’t have to be stressful. You can be the hostess AND enjoy the party!
Sandy is also the author of The Reluctant Entertainer.
Sandy on her book:
In my NEW inspirational book, The Reluctant Entertainer, I relate to many
apprehensive hostesses in real ways with genuine encouragement and advice.
Emphasizing the forgotten goal of entertaining – connecting deeply with others –
I show how women can use who they are and what they have to create memorable experiences.
Plus it’s packed with over 40 of Sandy’s delicious recipes.
Sandy contacted me and offered one of my readers a copy of the book! Thanks so much Sandy! Since spring is finally here and Mother’s day is approaching fast, just answer this question for me:
What is your favorite flower?

It would have to roses. Roses are the perfect example of God's glory. Doesn't hurt that Savanna loves them the most too. :)

ReplyDeleteI need this book. Before my dinner party late May, about which I am quite nervous!
ReplyDeleteUm, favorite flower, though? Hm. Roses, I s'pose. I love all flowers now thanks to traveling a lot through Big Sur, but the biggest surprise I ever got from Steve was a huge bouquet of Roses for our 10th wedding anniversary and they smelled *amazing*.
Ranunculus are stunning, but in the end, my favorite is lilac.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

There's no way I can choose just one. There are so many beautiful flowers to choose from.
ReplyDeleteIt really is hard for me to pick just one. I never thought much about flowers growing up. They were pretty, they grew in other people's gardens (though some azalea bushes and crocuses did dare to thrive in our yard) and they seemed like a waste of money to me. What's the point of growing something that gives you nothing in return? Then I moved to Alaska. Long dark nights and even shorter dark days make winter drag forever. Then, one day, you notice the buds on the trees and as you scurry to complete your errands downtown, you notice all the beautiful hanging baskets the municipality of Anchorage decorates street posts with, and you make a point of wandering through town square as you gaze in awe at the splendor and array of all the colors of the rainbow. Pansies, petunias, begonias, marigolds, lobelia... they're all there. And you finally understand, it's not about a lowly flower but but about the beauty and joy they bring to us. I cannot wait until husband retires from the military and we buy our first home. It *will* have a garden and it will be covered in flowers. Of that I guarantee you. :-)
I love Dahlias, and pansies and well all flowers but Dahlias is my first choice.

You know, I love the beauty and stamina of Tulips, but if I had to pick a forever flower, it would have to be a beautiful AND fragrant rose. Must be both.

Well it really is hard to pick just one, but I love daffodils since they are the first sign of spring. Foxgloves are lovely too, but I think roses are my favorite. Here in California, they are beautiful, versatile and smell so good! I enjoy reading your blog and thanks for the chance to win!
