Moose 2004 - 2012

Moose better!

Our sweet Moose passed away shortly before noon yesterday.

We were both with him, laying our hands on him, giving him kisses
and telling him how much we loved him.

We feel like our hearts are broken into pieces.

We were blessed to have him for 8 1/2 years.

He was a cherished part of our family and will remain in our fondest memories.

Much thanks to all of you who held us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

  5. Oh my gosh... I just found your blog today and I have to say how very sorry I am for your loss of Moose! I can only imagine how you are feeling. I have two little babies (dogs) that look a lot like Moose. They are my sunshine on gloomy days. You can tell in the pics of Moose that he was a very happy, well loved dog. Hugs to you & your family.

  6. How sad for you. Moose, judging by his photos, was adorable. Anyone who has ever loved a dog knows the pain of loss of the cute critters. Someone once said, "All dogs go to heaven." If there is a heaven, I think that's partly the reason why.

  7. I wish I had something healing or profound to say. But the fact is, it sucks. And there ain't no sugar coating that. He's somewhere romping in the grass right now, knowing he had the best home. Love to you, Lisa.

  9. Lisa, I'm so sorry for your loss. It is extremely difficult to lose an animal that has been part of your family for years. Our dog was 16 when we lost her and our cat was 19. So you are not alone in your feelings. You will grieve.

I also want to comment on your mention of Prednisolone. We too think it is a miracle drug. It has kept our cat alive for the last 4 years... even after being told several times that he wouldn't make it. But he is still with us and we are grateful.

  11. I am a long time reader of your blog, but I haven't commented before...
I just wanted to let you know that my family will be thinking of you, and we are deeply sorry for the lose of your treasured pet. It is never easy, and it will take time before you can remember Moose without having your heart break all over again, but I promise...it DOES get easier with time.
    Hugs

dogs are just as hard to lose as our human family members, if not more sometimes, as they love us unconditionally, always.

  17. Moose got a wonderful life and he couldn't have had a more loving, caring family. I never saw a picture where he wasn't perky and happy with you, unless he was sleepy or ill, which was out of your control and in God's hands.

God bless you. All dogs go to heaven.

  19. I have read your blog awhile now, so very, very sad to hear about your beloved baby, Moose. This is what hurts when a furbaby becomes a family member, hurts to the core. We know, we've lost many darlings, both cat and dogs over the years. Moose will be at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you as I hope my Shadow 1& 2, Pumpkin, Sammy Katz, Heidi, Shadow, Dusty and Cookie will be there for me. Take care.

  26. It is impossible to lessen the heartache over losing a loved one, and family pets are one of the most loved, cherished, and giving things in our lives. Be comforted in knowing that he knew how much he loved you, and being with him was truly a great gift you had given to him.

2 years ago when I was a freshman in college, I received news that my dog of 9 years, who I had grown up with and considered a loyal friend, had passed away. While I can still imagine the initial devastation I was feeling, with time, the happy memories will triumph over the heartache and help you and your family to heal.

And please remember, "Don't be sad because it's over, be happy because it happened" --Dr. Seuss.

  29. My heart goes out to you. We had to have our beloved yellow lab put down several weeks ago. I never knew I could grieve over a pet so. Time heals, but it does take time and you need to give yourself that. These precious fur people leave such imprints on our lives.

  34. Oh, this is such a hard time to lose a loved one. Pets are a special part of the family. You all did all you could. Do not think "if only."
We love them so much. I swear my husband and I thought we " saw" our Tinker in glimpses for months. I think he was just trying to make it easier for us.
Celebrate all Moose did to enrich your life and be grateful you had him for so long. We will see them when we cross the rainbow bridge. I am sure of it.

  37. I am so sorry for your loss. Some people don't understand that our pets are really part of our family and their deaths affect us just as much as losing any other family member. I still miss my pets that have passed. Again, I am sorry.
