There is something so satisfying about the combination of a crisp pear and the smokiness of a great gouda. That crunch and smoothness together. It makes my mouth feel alive.
This is one of my very favorite salads.
A bed of field greens, a Red Asian pear, sliced thin, a hunk of the best blue cheese I have ever tasted (thank you farmers market), a sprinkling of walnuts and a few slices of great smokey gouda.
Be still my heart.
I top it off with a light vinaigrette and a little drizzle of honey.
Perfection.
I wish all my salads were this good.

Very nice presentation.
Oh my goodness, that sounds incredibly delicious! I've made something similar, but never with the added gouda. Yum!
Salty, sweet, crunchy, savory...crisp..oh MY!
The first time I ever had Gorgonzola was only a decade ago. It was my first veined-cheese and it was in a California Pizza Kitchen salad they ordered in at work.
Now...I'm up for trying most cheeses...at least once. ;)
