A "me" day and a giveaway

I took the day off today to have a "me" day.

A day where I can enjoy the stillness and
the quietness of the house.

Something that does not happen often here.

A day when I can play the music I love without
anyone complaining (who would complain about the
Beatles anyway???)

A day when I headed out early to shop and
pamper myself a bit.

New bras in funky colors and this beautiful skirt:

Skirt

A day to decorate for Fall.

Autumn bowl

To pick the last hydrangea and watch it slowly turn.

Last hydra

A day for surprises in the mail.

Mail

A day to try a new recipe.

Apple peeling

A day to thank all my blog readers for stopping by and reading my ramblings,
and trying the recipes I post and leaving kind words.

I'm having a Fall Giveaway.
I decided to give away something for your food preparation,
something to bake it in and something to present it on.

One lucky winner will receive:

This beautiful set of hand painted nesting bowls.

There are three of these beauties and they are
just about the most adorable bowls I've laid eyes on.

Fall Giveaway Nested bowlsjpg

Please ignore the ugly cardboard separators in between the bowls.
I thought about taking them out and undoing the bow, but
then I thought again and just let them be.

Next you need something to bake in.
Maybe a beautiful deep dish pie plate with lovely
fall leaves and an even lovelier sentiment on the inside?

Fall Giveaway DeepDish Pie Pan

Lastly, this pedestal cake and goodie stand.

Fall Giveaway Ped Plate

Don't you think everything you make will look
even more delicious on it?

So there. Like what you see?
Wanna chance at winning these items?

All you have to do is leave me a comment on what your
favorite thing about fall is, or what you'd bake
and present on that beautiful dish.

That's it. No extras for mentioning the giveaway on
your blog, but feel free to do so if you want.

When you leave a comment either link back
to your blog or leave me your
email.

Please don't forget your email,
if I can't contact you I'll have to pick someone else.

So whatcha waiting for?? Leave me a comment.

Winner will be picked by random number generator
on October 7th at 7pm EST, cause I really love
the month of October and the number 7.

Good Luck!

Happy Fall (isnt it the most best time of year?)

Thanks for reading my little blog!

I love everything about fall. The sounds of the leaves rustling the sunny days with the chilly breezes even the rain. Also the food of fall, apple and pear pies and crisps, pumpkin anything. Fall is my favorite season.

I love the smell of woodsmoke on the chilly air. It makes me happy to gather my life in for a while.

Oh, and what would I put on that beautiful cakestand? Why a three-layer cake, of course. Definitely my peppermint chocolate cake at Christmas and my coconut at Easter and... Well, you get the picture: High cake with lots of frosting fluffed and tufted all around.

Only wish I could share it with you, dear!

What a gorgeous giveaway! My favorite thing about fall is the turning of the leaves. Sadly I live in Arizona and I dont get to see this grand sight.. but I can enjoy it in pictures :) I think my delicious chocolate mocha cake would look amazing on that platter! I also think my pecan pie would look awesome in the pie dish! Those bowls are the cutest things I have seen!

I love the colors of the changing leaves, and the cool mornings and evenings. Living in Southern California means its still pretty hot during the day, but being a NorCal girl at heart I love the cooler weather, a little rain, and the beautiful colors!

I would make some delicious spaghetti pie!!

The crispness of the air inspires me to get out my cookbooks and fill the house with luscious smells, delicious food, and happiness.

My apple-dapple cake would look just perfect on the cake stand. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Who doesn't love fall? Fall is my favorite season and I couldn't be more tickled when the weather cools, the leaves turn and baking begins. I think a pumpkin cake would be just beautiful atop that lovely plate, one the is covered in cream cheese frosting!

I'm definitely with June, the smell of woodsmoke again. The leaves twirling and whirling down. The thunk of acorns falling, pumpkins, gourds, APPLES!, cozy quilts, fuzzy socks, and of course being cool enough to comfortably BAKE again.

And between you and me I wouldn't turn down any cake on that platter. Though either my Easter hummingbird cake or my Mom's birthday carrot cake would be a winner.

Laurie said...

I too love the smell of woodsmoke, flannel sheets, driving through the rolling hills with colorful leaves falling, apples & pumpkins.

I'm not sure I can pick a favorite thing fall; there are the cooler temps, state fairs, apples and pumpkins, halloween! Plus you get to pull out all the cozy sweaters from the cedar chest!

I'd make a beautiful gluten and milk free chocolate cake with boiled frosting for my daughter's 14th birthday to sit on that cake stand!

Ah, Fall! Makes me want to get out for a nice walk among the beautifully colored, crispy leaves. Best of all, though is that I'm FINISHED worrying about the pool for the season. It has been turned off and I no longer have to throw vast quantities of chemicals in it. Yay!!

That beautiful cake plate would be the perfect spot for my decorated Christmas cookies this year. Along with some fudge, creme de menth squares, etc, etc. email: jfeller204@comcast.net

So generous!

My favorite thing about fall is the chance to sit in the screened in porch at the cabin wrapped in a blanket with a cup of coffee on a crisp weekend morning with a dog on my lap to keep me warm!

Robin from Calif. said...

Fall - also my favorite season. In no particular order, Fall is best because of more baking (cooler house), anything baked with pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg, all the cute scarecrows decorating my yard and garden, planting beets and broccoli, fires in the fireplace, thicker quilts on the beds, and finally being able to wear a comfortable sweater without being hot and miserable. Thanks for all the great photos and recipes, Lisa. Love them all.

My favorite thing about fall is pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins. I like to see them on the porch, in the fields, cut into jack-o-lanterns, baked into pies, cookies, cakes and breads and cooked down into butter or added to some soup.

Gosh, I love everything about Fall, from fun Halloween decorations, to the season of thanksgiving and I just adore sweater weather!!
I am a vegan and the cakestand could hold some wonderful vegan treats, perpaps muffins or vegan cupcakes (yum-o) and the pie plate could hold an amazing spinach pie that I make! So many ideas! I just discovered your blog and it is just lovely! I've been in a creative and blog slump for most of the year, and am rediscovering and discovering blogs for the first time, trying to get my mojo back! Your blog made me happy!

I never enter give-aways, but I can't find nice things like you are giving away here in Miami. We don't have Fall here either and I miss it soo much. I used to love the crispness in the air and the way the wood smelled from everyone getting ready for winter. The colors are my favorite. If I had a cake stand I would put all the Birthday cakes on it, or take it to events topped with Brownies, cookies or a cake. I made your blueberry coffee cake on Saturday- it was so yummy! Thanks for sharing.

Fall is my absolutely favorite time of the year. I love the crisp feeling in the air...the leaves turning, raking leaves and having my son jump in them. Beautiful giveaway.

Once I found this tree basically without leaves, feeling the winter already... all the yellow leaves were covering the ground underneath the tree. I laid on the floor and asked a friend to take a photo. The contrast made me almost black-n-white, while the entire photo was bright yellow... for me, that's Fall. Despite the chili weather at our door, we still have the warmth of the bright colors of Fall...

Growing up in south Florida, I had no concept of seasons except "Hurricane Season" and "Non-Hurricane Season". In college up north my now fiance took me home to New England. As the plane was landing I finally saw the beautiful colors that south Florida girls only see in movies/books. I fell in LOVE with the Fall. What a beautiful, peaceful and colorful time. People just seem friendlier in the Fall, the recipes are cozier (who doesn't love the smells of apples, cinnamon, pumpkins cooking in the kitchen - YUM!) and snuggling under a blanket is the hobby of choice!
